Good morning, friends and members. We are sharing weekly updates with you from Tom Williams, the President & CEO of Johnston UNC Health. Please find the information from 10.6.21 below. Thank you!
I have attached our Johnston Health Covid Dashboard:
· Lower trend continues of hospitalized patients. We are at 28 (first time below 30 since early August); 5 of these are long term >21 day patients.
·Of note is that 100% of all our Covid inpatients, vented, and in ICU are unvaccinated
UNC Covid-19 Analytics/Forecasting Models attached:
·NC seeing lower hospitalizations this past week
·Continued downward trend in hospitalization forecast based on current transmission rates
Johnston Health Hospital Census
·We continue to be full; primarily with ongoing covid patients and also non-covid medical patients. Total hospital census has been running above 200 all week
·We have had daily holds of inpatients in our Emergency Departments awaiting beds for short periods
·Our Surgical Leadership team met this morning and have put a tentative date of Oct 20th to start back a phased in approach of adding back non-emergent inpatient surgeries back on the OR schedule. We will continue to monitor covid trends and bed availability. As you can imagine, we have quite a backlog of these cases to try to get scheduled since we had to halt this back in August at the height of our covid surge.
In other news….
Welcome Wake Radiology
·Wake Rad started providing radiology reads for all inpatient and outpatient Johnston Health locations last Friday, Oct 1. The transition was very smooth and continues to go very well. We welcome Wake Rad’s sub-specialty radiology reads to our community.
