SMITHFIELD – The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation, The Herald, WTSB 1090AM, and WMPM 1270AM are hosting the second annual Christmas Window Display competition for Downtown Smithfield businesses this holiday season.  The competition entitled “Return of the Magic” will give downtown businesses an opportunity to express their creativity, while the voting public will have a chance to win some extra Christmas cash.

More than a dozen downtown businesses will be “decking the halls” for the competition, which will begin on December 1.  After viewing the window displays, the public is encouraged to vote for their favorite to be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to be used at any combination of downtown businesses.  Votes can be cast between December 1 and December 11 at the following locations: ·

In addition to the popular vote, windows will also be judged by a panel, giving two businesses the opportunity to win.  The winners of the window display competition and the $100 gift certificate will be announced on Monday, December 12.  The businesses with the winning displays will receive a trophy, an eighth-page color ad in The Herald, and radio spots on WTSB 1090AM and WMPM 1270AM.

“With the success of last year’s competition, we’re excited to host it again,” said Chris Johnson, Executive Director of the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation.  “The bar was set high last year, and we can’t wait to see what our businesses come up with this year.”
