JCC, Chambers Host Breakfast Networking EventMarch 14, 2014Johnston Community College in partnership with the Johnston County Chambers of Commerce hosted the Breakfast before Business event Friday, Feb. 28 on the main campus in Smithfield.
Some 150 business and community leaders attended the breakfast, which was sponsored by First Citizens Bank, Four Oaks Bank, and KS Bank.
The College recognized Sona BLW Precision Forge, Inc. as the recipient of its Business and Industry Partner Award for 2013. A Selma manufacturer of forged gears and axle components, Sona has contributed to curriculum development and provided job training opportunities for several of JCC’s workforce training programs.
“We are so appreciative of the training opportunities and industry expertise Sona has provided JCC,” said David Johnson, JCC president. “We look forward to the growth of our partnership with Sona as we continue to work together to enhance our educational programs and to close the skills gap of current and future advanced manufacturing employees.”
Phil Buckley, a national recognized speaker, SEO, digital marketer, connector, and recovering web developer, shared the value of effective Web communication and social media for businesses with the group. SGA president Rudolph Raynor also spoke about the positive impact of his college experience at JCC.
