JCPS, WKJO-102.3 team up for Football Game of the WeekAugust 24, 2018Johnston County Public Schools has teamed with radio station WKJO – Country Superstars 102.3 FM to air a Johnston County high school football game each Friday night throughout the high school football regular season.
WKJO- 102.3 can be heard throughout Johnston County as well as parts of adjoining counties.
Dubbed the Johnston County Public Schools Football Game of the Week, the broadcasts will air games live from each of our eight high schools. WKJO will broadcast 12 games throughout the 2018 high school football season focusing on intra-county match-ups.
The first broadcast aired on Friday, Aug. 17th, when Princeton High School hosted Smithfield-Selma High School. The next broadcast will air on Aug. 24th from Corinth Holders High, who will host West Johnston High.
The last regular season game will be on November 2nd with South Johnston High School hosting their rival Cleveland High School in a key Greater Neuse Conference match-up.

August 24 – West Johnston at Corinth Holders
August 31 – Corinth Holders at Clayton
September 7 – James Kenan at South Johnston
September 14 – Fuquay Varina at Cleveland
September 21 – Princeton at North Johnston
September 28 – Swansboro at Princeton
October 5 – West Johnston at Smithfield-Selma
October 12 – South Johnston at West Johnston
October 19 – Clayton at Cleveland
October 26 – Smithfield-Selma at Clayton
November 2 – Cleveland at South Johnston

WKJO is Johnston County’s only licensed FM radio station broadcasting from within Johnston County. Since 2015, it has been airing a gold based country music format from its studios near the Johnston County Airport and is locally owned by Johnston County resident Rick Heilmann.
